Restoring files from backup is a crucial aspect of data management, ensuring the preservation and recovery of valuable information. Polarbackup offers efficient methods for file restoration, providing users with convenient options tailored to their preferences and requirements, regardless of whether the data is backed up to Hot or ❆Cold Storage.

Restoring Files via “Polarbackup Restore” Desktop Application

Before starting the restoration process with the Polarbackup Restore desktop application, make sure your computer’s power settings are correctly configured to avoid any interruptions. Refrain from logging out of your user profile, restarting, or shutting down your device throughout the entire restoration duration.
Restoration from ❆Cold Storage requires 3-12 hours to commence.

 

Step 1. Open your Polarbackup desktop application and click the Restore button. This will launch the Polarbackup Restore application.

Step 2. Use the Computer Name drop-down menu to select the computer that you want to restore from its backup.

 

Step 3. Choose the desired data from the left-side panel and transfer it to the right-side panel using the Add icon. Once done, proceed by clicking the Next button.

Data that is backed up to ❆Cold Storage will be in a designated folder named ❆Cold Storage. You can click on that folder to go inside it.
Enable the Show/Restore Deleted Files option if you wish to see and include them in the restore job. (Learn more)

 

Step 4. Specify the restore options before clicking the Next button to proceed.

 

During this restoration process, it is vital to maintain uninterrupted operation of your machine—avoid turning it off, logging out of your user profile, or activating sleep mode. Once files are ready and accessible, the download commences automatically. You may minimize or close the Polarbackup Restore window without affecting the restoration progress.

 

 

Download Data From the Polarbackup Web Console

The Polarbackup web console imposes a daily download quota of 1 GB/day for ❆Cold Storage files. To restore larger files, please use the Polarbackup Restore desktop application, following the instructions provided earlier.
This approach proves valuable when the user requires the restoration of either a single file or a few files.

 

Step 1. Sign in to your Polarbackup web console.

 

Step 2. Refer to the My Computers tab.

 

Step 3. From the list of your machines on the left side of the page, select the computer you want to restore from.

 

Step 4. Browse for the data you want to restore.

Data that is backed up to ❆Cold Storage will be in a designated folder named ❆Cold Storage. You can click on that folder to go inside it.
Enable the Show Deleted Items option if you wish to see and include them in the download request. (Learn more)

 

Step 5. Select the files/folders you want to download and click the Download icon.

When downloading files from Hot Storage, Polarbackup will begin the download immediately.
When downloading files from ❆Cold Storage, Polarbackup will inform you that the data is being prepared. Within 3 to 12 hours, you will receive an email containing a link to access your files. Be sure to monitor your Inbox (and Spam folder).
