Introduction
Polarbackup offers continuous data protection (CDP) through customizable scheduling settings. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for setting up backup schedules.
For regular PCs, the computer must be powered on, not in sleep or hibernation mode, and the user must be logged into their profile for the scheduled backup to start. If these conditions are not met, the backup will be postponed to the next scheduled time.
On Windows server platforms, the Polarbackup desktop application can execute scheduled backups even if no user is logged in to the server.
How to Schedule the Polarbackup Backup
Method 1: Using the Polarbackup Desktop Software
- Open the Polarbackup desktop application.
- Click on Settings.
- Select the Schedule option from the left side menu.
- Set how often you wish Polarbackup to back up your files. There will be two options there:
- Backup Every: By using this option, you will be telling Polarbackup how frequently you want it to upload any new and modified files it has detected under your selected directories.
By selecting this option, you can also tell Polarbackup how frequently you want it to go ahead and check all your selected directories again, to make sure nothing has been missed, especially when backing up network drives that are not connected all the time. You can do this using the Perform a full scan on all selections every option. - On Schedule: By using this option, you will be telling Polarbackup the exact time and day to start the upload process of the new and modified files it has detected under your selected directories. You can also specify at what time you prefer that Polarbackup stops the upload, but this is optional.
